Eswaramoorthy Muthusamy is a Professor and Dean (Academic) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR). He also serves as the Associate Director of the International Centre for Materials Science(ICMS). He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Anna University in 1996 under the guidance of Prof. V. Krishnasamy. He subsequently carried out postdoctoral research with Prof. C. N. R. Rao, FRS, at JNCASR, Prof. Stephen Mann, FRS, at the University of Bristol, and Prof. Fujio Mizukami and Dr. Niwa at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan. He joined JNCASR as a faculty member in 2004.

His research interests include porous materials, catalysis, 2D Membranes and drug delivery. He has published over 100 research papers in international peer-reviewed journals. His recognitions include the MRSI Medal, CRSI Bronze Medal, the C. N. R. Rao National Prize for Chemical Research, the CRS Silver Star Medal, and the Biotech Product, Process Development and Commercialization Award from the Government of India.
